I would like for all of you to share your ideas about "The Arrival." Is the opening character leaving? If so, why, if not, why not? Are “push and pull” factors influencing this character's decisions?”
I think that the main character is leaving. I think he was drafted to go off to war. I don't think there is any pull factor, but the push is leaving his family behind.
We (Samantha & Dante) think that one of the opening character's, the Dad, is leaving. We also think that he is being forced to leave because of war, poverty or both.
I think this non-word book is about a dad that must leave him home to find a bettter place to call their home. So far, the dad has just left by train, and the mother and child are walking home together. Laurel
At home, putting stuff in a man's suitcase. He's wrapping a picture of his family then puts it in his suitcase. While staring at his own suitcase his mother stares at him with sad eyes. His doter wakes to the sunlight. She gets up, eats her breakfast, then gets dressed and finds her dad packing to go somewhere and then they leave. They go to the train station and the man's wife is crying and then the man takes of his hat off and gives his daughter an origami swan then boards the train. Then the wife leaves with his daughter.
I think the father is leaving because he's getting packed and leaving to go on a train. He probably left because he needed money for the family. In the background their are dragon tails while the father was leaving. I know that there is a mother and a little girl in the family. The family is very sad. This is what we think of THE ARRIVAL.
The time period from around 1600 to 1700 covered the development of Britain's 13 Colonies in North America. In the 13 Colonies, the early colonist’s basic needs were food, shelter and clothing to survive. Let us now explore their journey.
